Mel B refuses to invite two Spice Girls members to her wedding this weekend amid drama

Victoria Beckham and Geri Halliwell will not be attending Melanie Brown’s wedding this Saturday, according to sources. The fashion icon and former Spice Girl are both missing from the guest list for “Scary Spice” Mel B’s ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral, where she will marry fiancé Rory McPhee in a star-studded event.

There’s also talk that either Emma Bunton or Melanie Chisholm may skip the occasion. A source explains that Victoria, 51, won’t be there due to pre-existing travel plans: “Victoria has long-standing commitments abroad and simply can’t attend. She adores Mel, and despite their different career paths, they get along well. It’s unfortunate but there’s no bad blood. It’s just one of those things.”

Geri’s absence is rooted in a more complicated history. She and Mel have had a rocky relationship, often unable to be in the same room without tension.

The rift deepened when Mel B disclosed during an interview on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories that she had a secret romantic encounter with Geri in the early days of the band - a revelation that upset Geri deeply.

Mel reportedly never apologised, and the bombshell caused embarrassment for Geri’s husband Christian Horner, who was said to be “mortified” by the claims.

It comes after neither Victoria nor Geri attended Mel’s 50th birthday celebration in Leeds this May; only Emma and Mel C were present.

The upcoming wedding will mark Mel’s third marriage. She first tied the knot with Dutch dancer Jimmy Gulzar in 1998, donning a flamboyant Vegas showgirl feathered headdress and a white-and-gold dress.

In 2007, she married Stephen Belafonte in a Las Vegas ceremony and renewed their vows in Egypt a year later. The couple separated in 2016 amid accusations of emotional and physical abuse from Mel, which Belafonte denies. His legal team claimed the couple spent through Mel’s £50 million fortune during their marriage.

After her split from Stephen, Mel grew close to Rory McPhee, describing him last year as “a family friend, great hairdresser... when I went back to England, he would come over and give me hair treatments... And as he was nurturing my curls back, I guess he was nurturing my trust and belief in a relationship.”

Mel is able to marry at St Paul’s Cathedral thanks to her OBE, awarded in 2022 for charitable work supporting vulnerable women, particularly through Woman’s Aid.

Ahead of her wedding, Mel celebrated with a vibrant hen party in Tunisia, complete with leopard-print bikinis, a choreographed dance, a belly dancing class, and a “Zen party.” Her daughter Phoenix and 35 friends joined in the sun-soaked festivities featuring dancing by the ocean and a lavish menu.
